Our Leadership

Dr. Vincent K. Resto
PRINCIPAL
Dr. Vincent K. Resto is a systems-level leader for 20 years dedicated to preserving the sanctity of the instructional core by fostering a culture centered on continuous learning predicated upon research-based practices to build the necessary capacity of all stakeholders to ensure a definitive impact on student achievement. In effect, his ability to engage in systems thinking to aptly assess the interconnections and interrelationships amongst a multitude of variables affords him a keen awareness of how particular initiatives can be developed without compromising the development of others within an organization. In alignment with the ideals of systems thinking, specifically, leading wholes, which is a holistic point of view oriented toward seeing the big picture, he has anchored the collective vision at the core of his organization to ensure all stakeholders demonstrate its words in action. It is his commitment to the collective vision and the transparency of his leadership that binds stakeholders to its meaning as high expectations transcend all levels of his organization. Throughout his journey of leadership, high expectations can also be denoted within the systems and structures designed and implemented to galvanize stakeholders around the academic imperative: a just and equitable education for all scholars. Further, well-versed in an array of research-based practices to advance the delivery of all content areas, it has been critical to his leadership to design rigorous curriculum founded upon culturally responsive pedagogy to elevate the moral imperative; closing the deepening fissure in the academic performance of marginalized scholars.

Dr. Maria I. Villegas
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Dr. María Isabel Villegas has been a systems- level leader for 16 years dedicated to providing equitable learning opportunities for marginalized communities. As a social justice leader, she believes that educators have a moral responsibility to create conditions that empower all children to realize their full potential. Her transformational journey has contributed to the intentionality behind leadership practices that seek to unveil the prevailing societal injustices through comprehensive professional as well as educational experiences. As such, research-based practices have been used to elevate the work of internalizing the lived experiences of educators and their inherent personal biases to unpack their impact upon children and the implementation of comprehensive culturally responsive teaching and learning. Ultimately, this work has influenced the design of socially just curricula inclusive of identity, diversity, justice, and action that delves into exposing children to the history behind their cultures to ensure that they see the potential within themselves despite the oppressive forces that influence their achievement. As a result, the progression and implementation of interdisciplinary curriculum has provided the landscape for scholars to excel academically and socially, while nurturing the voices they so aptly use to convey their knowledge of society. Consequently, the goal of overcoming societal dilemmas by strategically dismantling the status quo remains at the core of Dr. Villegas’ work as a leader within the realm of education.
